Welcome to the Center for Bridge Education
The Center for Bridge Education (CBE) was founded in 2007 in conjunction with a national trend to take duplicate bridge to middle school and high school students at no cost to the schools. Over the years we have introduced hundreds of young people to the game.
CBE has evolved from teaching at Mission High School to an organization that supports student bridge clubs from San Francisco to San Jose. Through the sponsorship of both Silicon Valley Youth Bridge(SiVY) and Peninsula Youth Bridge(PYB), CBE has expanded its reach to a large part of the Bay Area.
CBE has developed a new game called HandzTM designed to simplify teaching of the concepts of bridge. High schoolers can teach themselves to play HandzTM. Children as young as 8 can learn it in just a few minutes. The game progresses in levels of increasing difficulty challenging players to learn more until they reach the 10th level at which time they can transition to bridge or continue playing HandzTM indefinitely. It is a challenging game on its own.
Starting June 17th, HandzTM games will be held for elementary, middle and high school students at CARDology Bridge Club, 45 Castro St. (Davies Medical Center, North Tower Auditorium). All are welcome. Experienced coaches will be on hand. Click here for flyer and more information.
Passing knowledge from old to young can begin at any time. CBE encourages interactions between our old hands and middle and high school beginners. Bridge is an ideal setting for these teaching moments.
More than most other activities, bridge can become a connection between middle schoolers and high schoolers as well as new players and experts.
CBE is an all volunteer charitable organization. Contributions are tax exempt under section 501(c)3 of the internal revenue code.
